Milestone's Program Description

Milestone Foster Homes provides:

• Inclusive services that are non-discriminatory in an environment that considers ethno-cultural, racial, linguistic, and ancestral diversity. This includes the provision of services under the French Language Services Act. 

• Accommodation on the gender-specific needs of clients and for LGBTQ2IA+ clients. 

• Opportunities for participation in leisure and recreations activities that promote physical, social, and cultural benefits for clients. 

• Assistance to FNIM clients in preservice their unique cultural identity and in maintaining positive contact, involvement, and participation with their FNIM community as identified in the Plan of Care.  

• Tailored supports for clients with unique needs.

• Tailored supports for clients experience geographic isolation. 


Milestone insists that:

• The client’s right to voluntarily access and benefit form religious/spiritual care will be discussed with the client at admissions, as part of the rights review, and at all POC meetings and reviews. 

• The client’s religious affiliations/preferences/needs will be collected and documented in the client file through the POC process. 

• The name of the client’s community spiritual/religion care provider will be documented in the file, where applicable. 

• Clients will not be required to participate in their foster parent’s religious affiliations. 

• Religious diets and fasts of recognized faith groups will be observed as agreed upon by the client, the placing agency/individual, the parents, foster parents and the resource worker. All religious diets and fasts will be documented in the client file.

• Seeking conversions, proselytizing, or criticizing other faith groups by any individual involved in the provision of care is not permitted and will not be tolerated.
